Frequently asked questions
How do I import my manuscript?
Create a project or chapter, then tap Import. TXT, Markdown and HTML work today. From Word, Pages or Google Docs choose File → Export → Plain Text. Leave a blank line between paragraphs; the app splits long passages into takes automatically.
How do takes and retakes work?
You record one paragraph at a time. Finish a take, listen back, then Accept or Redo. Every accepted take is saved. You can keep several takes per paragraph and switch which one is used.
I make podcasts. Do I need a script?
No. Choose Podcast when creating a project and leave the script empty. You get a plain recorder: start, pause, mark moments, stop. Each stop becomes a segment you can reorder, share or delete. Add notes or a script later from the Script button.
What does Mark mistake do?
It drops a timestamp without stopping the recording. Markers appear in the take review and in the exported cue sheet so your editor can find them quickly.
What is Clean Voice?
Optional cleanup applied at export: rumble removal, background noise reduction, de-essing, gentle levelling and loudness set to the ACX audiobook spec or podcast standards. Original recordings are never changed. Cleaned files are 16-bit WAV. Segments over 20 minutes export unprocessed, so record in shorter segments.
How do I get the finished audio out?
Tap Export in the Studio for a chapter, or Export whole book on the project screen. Files are numbered in reading order with a cue sheet of start times and markers, in Files → On My iPhone → Audiobook Recorder → Exports. Drop them into any editor and they line up in order.
What audio format is recorded?
AAC in an .m4a container. Studio quality is 48 kHz, mono, 192 kbps. Standard is 44.1 kHz, 128 kbps.
Subscription, trial and cancelling
Audiobook Recorder Pro is a monthly auto-renewable subscription with a 3-day free trial, billed through your Apple Account. Manage or cancel any time in Apple Account → Subscriptions. Cancel at least 24 hours before the trial or current period ends to avoid being charged. Use Restore purchases in the app to reactivate on a new device.
